The name comes from the Italian card game Briscola, it is quite common to see, in bars and pubs, groups of elderly gentlemans fully focused on winning an extremely important game of Briscola while drinking a glass (but most likely two or three) of Grappa.

In particular "La Vecia" represents the Jack of Spade of the italian cards.
